What characterises the sofas that the trendy consumer looks for today?
"The style of the sofa needs to be clean, comfy and aesthetically pleasing. There are especially two styles that are popular at the moment. The delicate and sleek sofas inspired from the 40s and 50s with tall slim legs, made of 100% wool or 100% leather.
Another one is the more heavy and chunky sofa often seen in velvet."
Is it comfort or trend the consumer prioritises?
"The style of the sofa catches the consumer at first glimpse, but all in all the comfort get prioritised over the style and is definitely a must. Especially if the sofa is used in the TV lounge. Personally, I think comfort is key when it comes to furniture - But the aesthetic, quality and comfort are altogether very important."
Are there any specific colours or materials that are popular?
"100% wool is very popular at the moment, especially the granular look and colours. But we've also seen them in green and blue. The classic cognac leather sofa is still popular.
Other than that, you see a lot of more heavy, neutral and rustic furniture, such as marble, concrete, stone, brass and chrome.”
Is there any specific trend regarding coffee tables, lamps, poufs and other accessories around the sofa?
"Something you see more and more now that we are moving to a more sustainable mindset is the natural materials. Poufs in linen and lamps made of sustainable materials such as rice paper shades or bamboo. One trend that goes directly against this is the more graphical and chunky trend. So, at the moment you see two different trends, the sustainable and natural one and then the graphical and chunky one."
